On Tuesday, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) touted its developmental achievements in the education, health, and sanitation sectors at the Regional Town Hall Meetings and Exhibitions which commenced yesterday in Accra, highlighting its commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the metropolis.

The event organised by the Information Ministry under the theme “Regional Revitalisation: Government’s Commitment to Growth, Development, and Prosperity,” aims to promote inclusiveness, accountability, and participatory governance.

Projects displayed at the AMA’s booth featured a variety of completed projects in the education, health, and sanitation sectors including a 3-storey 18-unit classroom with ancillary facilities such as  Science laboratories, computer laboratories, staff common room, offices and horticulture flowering as well as a playing area for the Independence Avenue Cluster of Schools one of the oldest public primary schools in the Central Business District (CBD) of Accra, ongoing construction of a  3-storey 18-unit classroom for Cable and Wireless Cluster of Schools, newly completed 14 and 12 seater sanitation facilities to enhance sanitation and hygiene in various basic schools.

Additionally, projects such as the newly constructed daycare centre at Agbogbloshie for children of migrants in the informal waste sector, the recently built KG block for Bubuashie Basic School, market sheds for traders at Makola, Agbobgloshie, the yet-to-be-commissioned James Town Harbour, were highlighted.

On public health initiatives, the AMA also featured the recently constructed maternity and theatre building at the Kaneshie Polyclinic to improve healthcare delivery, and a sanitation court, at the AMA old office to prosecute sanitation offences and enhance the city's efforts towards maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards.

Speaking to media the Mayor of Accra, stressed the importance of community involvement in the developmental process.

“We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every citizen has a voice in the development of our city. These projects are a testament to our dedication to improving the living standards of our people,” she stated.

The exhibition allowed the public to engage with the AMA, ask questions, and provide project feedback.
