Mayor of Accra informs Ga Mantse of Mother's demise


The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey, has delivered the sorrowful news of her mother's passing to the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and President of the Ga Traditional Council (GTC). 

The Mayor of Accra accompanied by close relatives delivered the news to the King of the Ga State on behalf of the head of the family, Nii Amarkai Amarteifio, with red cloth, obituary, bottles of schnapps on Friday during a solemn visit to the Ga Mantse's palace.

Deaconess (retd.) Mrs Dora Naa Ahiney Amarteifio Quartey, born in 1932, died peacefully at the Bank Hospital in Accra on April 5, 2024, at 92. She was known for her profound impact on the community, particularly her efforts in promoting Ga culture and supporting various social initiatives.

The Mayor who spoke through a linguist, also informed the King that a book of condolence had been opened at her official residence in honour of her late mother. 

Speaking on behalf of the Ga Mantse and the Ga Traditional Council, Nii Ayi-Bonte II, the Gbese Mantse, conveyed their condolences and support.

 “She is our Mayor, and we will come and support her. We thank her for showing respect to the King. On behalf of the Ga King, we want to express our sincere condolences, ” he said. 

There will be no wake-keeping. Filing past will occur on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the forecourt of the State House, Accra, starting at 7:00 AM. The burial service will follow on the same day at 8:00 a.m. at the same location. The interment will be a private burial on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Final funeral rites will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the forecourt of the State House, Accra. A Thanksgiving service is scheduled for Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Church of Pentecost, New Mamprobi, at 9:00 AM.
