The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has been honoured by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) for excellence in data management practices.
The award recognised the AMA’s commitment to effective data management and the application of technology to improve institutional efficiency and service delivery.
The award was presented on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the 2026 National ICT Week Dinner and Awards Ceremony held at The Underbridge, East Legon, as part of activities celebrating outstanding contributions to Ghana’s information and communications technology sector.
The event, held under the theme “Innovation at Scale”, brought together key stakeholders, ICT professionals, innovators, and personalities from the technology and creative sectors to celebrate achievements that contributed to the growth and development of Ghana’s digital ecosystem.
Speaking on the sidelines, Head of the AMA’s Management Information Systems (MIS) Unit, Mr Michael Adama, who received the award, said the recognition reflected the Assembly’s continued efforts to strengthen the collection, management and use of institutional data to support planning, monitoring and evidence-based decision-making.
He noted that effective data management had become central to improving administrative processes, coordinating the activities of departments, and enhancing the Assembly’s ability to respond efficiently to the needs of residents and stakeholders.
He disclosed that the use of reliable data and digital systems was helping to improve institutional performance by providing accurate information for decision-making, programme implementation, and the assessment of metropolitan services.
He added that the recognition also underscored the contribution of the Assembly’s MIS Unit and other departments, including the Public Affairs Unit, working together to advance digital transformation within the Assembly.
Mr Adama expressed appreciation to NITA for recognising the efforts of the Assembly and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to adopting innovative technological solutions that would enhance the management of Accra and improve services to residents.
The 2026 National ICT Week Dinner and Awards Night provided a platform to recognise institutions and individuals demonstrating excellence, innovation, and leadership in the application of technology for national development.
