Assembly members and Staff of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) have signed the book of condolence in honour of the late mother of the Mayor of Accra, Hon.Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey.
In a solemn ceremony held at the Mayor's official residence, Presiding Member, Alfred Asiedu and the Coordinating Director signed on behalf of the Assembly Members and staff respectively.
In his message, Presiding Member, Hon. Alfred Asiedu Adjei quoted Psalm 34:18, which states: "The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
"On behalf of Assembly Members of AMA, we express our melancholy condolence to the entire family. May the Lord give you strength at this difficult moment," he wrote.
The Coordinating Director of the AMA, Douglas N.K Annoful on behalf of staff extended heartfelt condolences to Mayor and her family on the passing of her beloved mother.
" The AMA shares their grief and extends thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, hoping her soul rest in perfect peace," he wrote.
Mayor Sackey thanked the Assembly Members and staff of the AMA for their kind words and gestures.
Earlier Hon David Quaye Anandy, a former Mayor of Tema signed the book of condolence and wrote "Now the labourer’s task is over. Now the voyager at last. Now the Father, past the shore, lands upon the Father’s shore. Lord in thy gracious keeping leave we now thy servant sleeping.
The book of condolence will remain open for the rest of the week, to allow more loved ones to pay their respects and offer their condolences.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
(1) There will be no wake-keeping.
(2) Filing past will occur on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the State House, Accra's forecourt, from 7:00 AM.
(3) Burial service will follow on the same day at 8:00 AM at the forecourt of the State House, Accra.
(4) The interment will be a private burial on Saturday, July 6, 2024.
(5) Final funeral rites - Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the forecourt of the State House, Accra.
(6) Thanksgiving service Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Church of Pentecost, New Mamprobi, at 9:00 AM.
